Magnolia, The Mystic
This page may contain spoilers regarding Broken Aether.

Magnolia is an optional recruitable character who functions as a pure magic-based attacker with exceptionally high magical attributes and a large resource pool. Her spell repertoire covers a broad range of elemental damage types, giving her the ability to adapt to varying enemy resistances and support parties that rely on matching elemental weaknesses.
Magnolia’s mechanics revolve around a card-based casting system. Each time she uses a spell, she generates a card value that determines an additional effect for the ability. Card values can range across a set progression and may influence outcomes such as increased damage, expanded target coverage, or enhanced utility. This introduces a layer of variance and strategic adaptation during combat, rewarding players who adjust actions based on card outcomes.
She also has access to a transformation state that can be used once per battle. While active, all spellcasts benefit from high-value card effects, allowing Magnolia to deliver consistent high-impact magic without relying on randomized card draws. This form provides a strategic timing window for coordinated burst damage or phase transitions in more demanding encounters.
Strengths
Magic Attacker with a wide array of spells that cover every element.
Highest MAG.
Third highest TP.
Skills can be empowered depending on the card number when cast.
Weaknesses
Other than MAG, all her other stats are between mediocre and low.
Damage output is very RNG dependent.

Baseline
Elemental Spells: Magnolia has the best elemental attack coverage as she has a spell of each element.
Lunatic Joker: deals neutral magic damage. Useful when the enemy has no elemental weakness.
Eclipse Ace: pretty much the same as Lenne's Heaven's Tear, dealing damage based on the enemy's current elemental weakness.
Blind Draw: increases a random stat to the party by 30% (up to 40% when maxed).
Wild Card: makes her next card-based skill to deal double damage and cannot fail.
Class Abilities
Firestorm / Earthstream Spirit: from Summoner. Synergizes extremely well with her kit since the damage scales with MAG.
Crystals
MAG Up: stack those and Magnolia will be hitting even harder.
HP / DEF / MDN Up: considering Magnolia's low defensive stats.
HP Drain: very straightforward. The amount seems to scale with damage done, so the harder you hit, the more you heal.

When Magnolia joins the party, she has access to higher-tier abilities immediately due to her late arrival in the narrative. This allows her to begin functioning as a fully capable elemental caster without requiring extensive early-game progression. Her development primarily revolves around selecting elemental spells that complement party composition and reinforcing her magical scaling through passive upgrades.
Her attribute growth typically prioritizes magic power and resource sustain to support frequent spellcasting and consistent elemental pressure across encounters. Since her toolkit is built around maximizing spell effectiveness, passive enhancements to magical output and survivability ensure stable performance in prolonged battles.
Advanced Class Emblems available at this stage can enhance her magical attributes, elemental specialization, or overall stat growth depending on chosen progression paths. Different emblem choices allow her to reinforce high-end spell damage, broaden elemental versatility, or scale attributes that support her transformation-based burst strategies.
End-game equipment options can further amplify her magical output or support resource efficiency and spell critical interactions. These choices allow Magnolia to be tailored toward high-burst spellcasting, sustained damage roles, or broader elemental utility depending on party needs and encounter demands.
