Victor, The Bard

This page may contain spoilers regarding Broken Aether.

Victor functions as a dedicated support character with a toolkit centered around regeneration, buffs, resistance manipulation, and utility-based spellcasting. His abilities enhance party survivability and resource sustain, making him valuable in battles that require long-form strategy rather than short burst engagements.

Victor provides access to healing and regeneration skills that restore both HP and TP over time, enabling extended encounters with fewer resource constraints. These abilities support parties that rely heavily on frequent skill usage and benefit from sustained pressure rather than single-turn damage spikes.

His spells offer flexibility, enabling him to shift between supportive and offensive functions depending on encounter needs and party composition.

Victor’s Ultra Move provides party-wide recovery by restoring TP and applying regeneration effects. This allows teams to maintain momentum during difficult battles where resource management is critical, especially in encounters that rely on continuous ability rotation.

Strengths

  • Fits the typical bard archetype: lots and lots utility.

  • Has some of the most useful buffs and debuffs in the game.

  • The definitive support, fitting in any team composition.

  • Third highest MND.

  • Fourth highest TP.

  • Very useful Ultra Move.

Weaknesses

  • All his other stats except for MND and TP are mediocre to low.

  • Lowest AGI in the game.

Baseline

  • Valor Minuet: one of Victor most important buffs. TP Regen is a must for long fights, and your most potent fighters, will often burn down their TP fast.

  • Healing Hymn: incredibly useful to keep everyone in mint condition through the whole battle. If Victor stacks a lot of MND and has the Holy Symbol equipped, a single tick can pretty much fully heal any character.

  • Heroic Ode: this is his best buff, pretty much increasing bonuses to all stats, and will completely replace his Poetic March and Requiem later in the game.

  • Shield Mazurka: great emergency shield for incoming hard-hitting moves.

Class Abilities

  • Heal All: from Cleric. Victor has no innate area-of-effect direct healing spell, so this is a must.

  • Awaken Spirit: from Cleric. Resurrection spells are always useful in clutch moments, and Victor also has no innate reviving ability.

  • Drunken Master: from Monk. Works fine equipped on any character, and since Victor has a pretty low AGI already, this works wonders on him; ideally, this should be equipped on a faster character so Victor can drop his other, more important buffs.

  • Firestorm / Earthstream Spirit: from Summoner. Allows Victor to put some offensive pressure while he's busy handling buffs and healing the party. This ability can be equipped on pretty much any character as it has no set duration and adds extra damage on every turn.

Crystals

  • MND Up: the most important stat for healers as it affects the potency of healing spells.

  • AGI Up: helps remedy Victor's low AGI.

  • CRIT Up: if you plan on equipping Victor with the Healing Belt.

Early Game

Victor begins the game with access to several key support abilities that provide early healing, regeneration, and utility effects. These skills allow him to contribute to party sustain across extended encounters, especially in battles where frequent ability usage is required. His toolkit enables consistent team support from the start of the game without requiring extensive setup.

Early progression benefits from improving Victor’s defensive and support-related attributes, helping him remain effective while sustaining allies through prolonged encounters. Increasing survivability ensures he can maintain uptime on supportive abilities without being forced out of combat prematurely.

As Class Emblems become available early in the game, Victor can make use of emblems that enhance healing output, regeneration effects, or defensive utility. These emblem options support his role as a dedicated support unit and reinforce his contribution to party-wide sustain and resilience.

Mid Game

As Victor progresses into mid-game ability tiers, he gains access to additional restoration and support skills that expand his role in sustaining the party over prolonged encounters. New abilities introduced at this stage enhance healing over time, provide defensive reinforcement, and offer situational utility depending on the composition of the party and nature of the encounter.

This phase also introduces passives that improve resource efficiency and reduce ability costs, enabling Victor to support more demanding combat scenarios without depleting TP as quickly. These upgrades complement his role as a caster who maintains consistent access to essential support skills across extended battles.

Mid-game development can focus on scaling Victor’s supportive capabilities by improving key attributes, enhancing healing performance, and reinforcing durability so he can remain active on the field. This ensures his contributions remain reliable as encounter complexity increases and new threats emerge.

End Game

In the late-game tier, Victor gains access to advanced support abilities designed to enhance team-wide sustainability and amplify overall party efficiency. These abilities allow him to streamline his skill loadout by replacing earlier support options with more powerful versions, providing stronger regeneration effects, utility enhancements, and improved combat pacing for the party.

Late-game development also introduces skills that focus on elemental support and synergize with party compositions built around coordinated elemental damage. These abilities reinforce Victor’s role in facilitating team strategies rather than functioning as a standalone damage source, enabling him to support large-scale burst windows and long-duration encounters.

Advanced Class Emblems available at this stage allow Victor to further refine his role as a dedicated healer and buffer by increasing his supportive attributes, enhancing regeneration, or improving resource efficiency. These options provide multiple viable builds depending on the party’s approach to sustained combat, defensive play, or elemental synergy.

End-game equipment can further enhance his support capabilities by improving healing output, granting additional utility effects, or enabling critical interactions with restorative skills. These items allow players to tailor Victor’s contribution based on whether the focus is maintaining sustain in long encounters or enabling high-efficiency burst setups.
