Leveling Up
Your hero’s level represents overall power and growth. Each level grants you new points to invest and unlocks higher potential in combat and exploration.
Level Cap
The base level cap in the game is 20. After reaching level 20, experience no longer increases until you enter New Game Plus (NG+). Each NG+ cycle raises the level cap by 5.
For example:
NG+0 → Level 20 cap
NG+1 → Level 25 cap
NG+2 → Level 30 cap
The formula for the cap is: Level Cap = 20 + (NG × 5)
You can check your level progress on the experience tracker in the character menu.
Attribute and Skill Points
Every time your character levels up, you earn:
3 Attribute Points
3 Skill Points
Attribute Points are spent in the Training Grounds to permanently boost your hero’s stats such as Strength, Dexterity, or Intelligence. Skill Points can be invested at trainers like the Skill Master, Weapon Master, or in the Library to enhance specific abilities, weapon types, or trinkets.
You can also gain extra points through Guild Accomplishments, rewarding achievements that benefit all characters on your account.
Experience System
Experience (XP) determines how fast your hero levels up. Every enemy you defeat grants a certain amount of experience depending on its type and level.
The formula for calculating XP is: Enemy Experience × Level Penalty × Experience Multiplier × (1 + New Game Level ÷ 3)
Here’s what each part means:
Enemy Experience — Base XP value from the type of enemy (Bosses, Beasts, Undead, etc.)
Level Penalty — Adjusts XP based on how much stronger or weaker the enemy is compared to you
Experience Multiplier — Boosts XP through bonuses or modifiers
New Game Level — Adds an extra XP bonus per NG+ level
Your current XP rate can be viewed under “Experience Gain” in your character sheet.
Experience Level Penalty
The experience you earn depends on how close your character’s level is to the area you are fighting in.
You gain full XP (100%) when fighting enemies that are within 10 levels below or 5 levels above your character’s level.
If the difference is greater than that, you earn less XP for each level outside this range. The penalty reduces XP by 15% per level, down to a minimum of 10% of normal XP.
For example:
Fighting much weaker enemies (more than 15 levels below) gives you almost no experience.
Fighting enemies much stronger than you (10+ levels above) also reduces your gain significantly.
This system encourages players to progress through balanced areas appropriate for their hero’s strength rather than farming lower zones indefinitely.
Experience Requirements
Each new level requires more XP than the last. The early levels progress quickly, but higher levels demand exponentially more experience.
Here’s how the general growth pattern works:
Level 2 requires around 2,000 XP
Level 5 requires about 20,000 XP in total
Level 10 requires around 250,000 XP cumulatively
Level 15 surpasses 650,000 XP total
Level 20 needs over 1.3 million XP to reach
After level 20, XP requirements continue to increase by roughly 7% per level when advancing through New Game Plus cycles.
The formula that defines XP scaling is: XP Required = 2000 × (n².² − (n − 1)².²) where n is your next level.
This exponential formula ensures that leveling feels progressively slower, matching the game’s roguelite structure.
New Game Plus (NG+)
After defeating the final boss, you unlock New Game Plus. Each NG+ level increases both the difficulty and rewards.
Every new cycle brings:
Stronger enemies with better loot
Increased XP rewards
A higher maximum level cap (+5 each NG+)
Opportunities to continue improving your hero indefinitely
The New Game Plus loop creates an endless progression path — enemies grow tougher, but your power scales alongside them.
